What is a Vitamin D3 Injection?
ABOUT THE TREATMENT
Vitamin D3, also called cholecalciferol, helps your body absorb calcium and supports normal bone and muscle function.
This treatment delivers vitamin D3 through an injection into a muscle. Your provider will explain the formulation, prescribed dose and whether an injection or another form of supplementation best fits your needs.
What benefits can you expect?
When vitamin D deficiency is present, appropriate supplementation can:
-
Restore low vitamin D levels.
-
Support calcium absorption and bone health.
-
Help address muscle weakness caused by deficiency.
Benefits depend on your starting vitamin D level and individual needs. Additional vitamin D does not necessarily provide extra benefit when your levels are already adequate.
Is this infusion appropriate for you?
Your provider may discuss vitamin D supplementation if you have:
-
Confirmed low vitamin D levels.
-
A condition that affects nutrient absorption.
-
Bone health concerns related to vitamin D deficiency.
These concerns do not automatically mean you need an injection.

We’ll review your health history, relevant lab results and current supplements to determine whether treatment is appropriate.
02 / TREATMENT
Receive your injection
If recommended, licensed clinical staff will administer the injection into a muscle. Administration takes approximately five minutes or less, with additional time for your assessment.
03 / NEXT STEPS
Plan your care
Your provider will explain aftercare and whether repeat blood testing or further supplementation is needed. Too much vitamin D can be harmful, so discuss any additional supplements with your provider.
