UNDERSTANDING MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
You do not have to figure everything out before you begin.
You may know exactly what you want to discuss, or you may simply know that something feels difficult. Either is a place to start.
At Heart Own Medical Services, therapy begins with listening to your concerns and understanding what you hope to gain from care. We make room for your experiences, questions and priorities as we explore the next steps together.
Our approach is evidence-based, trauma-informed and grounded in respect for the whole person.
OUR THERAPY APPROACHES
Support shaped
around your needs.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, often called CBT, explores the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It can help you recognize unhelpful patterns and develop practical ways to respond to challenges.
Heart Own Medical Services offers CBT as part of its therapy services. Your provider will discuss whether this approach fits your concerns and treatment goals.

Recognize patterns
Explore how recurring thoughts and responses may influence your emotions and everyday experiences.

Build coping skills
Work on practical strategies for responding to stress and navigating difficult situations.

Apply what you learn
Practice skills between appointments when recommended and discuss your experiences during follow-up sessions.
YOUR FIRST SESSION
Start with what matters to you.
Your first appointment gives you and your provider an opportunity to get to know one another. You can discuss what brings you to therapy, relevant treatment history and what you would like support with.
You do not need a prepared story or a perfect explanation. Bring your questions and share any concerns about beginning therapy.
Together, you can discuss treatment goals, the recommended approach and what future appointments may involve.

WORKING TOGETHER
Your goals help guide the process.
01.
Identify your priorities
Discuss the concerns you want to address and what meaningful progress would look like in your life.
02.
Explore your experiences
Use your sessions to reflect, ask questions and work through challenges with professional support.
03.
Review your progress
Talk about what feels helpful, what remains difficult and whether your goals or approach need to change.

CARE THAT RESPECTS YOU
Be heard as the person you are.
Your background, identity and life experiences belong in the conversation.
Heart Own Medical Services is an LGBTQ+ affirming practice. We respect your name and pronouns and are committed to providing a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
Our trauma-informed approach considers your comfort and experiences. You are encouraged to discuss your boundaries, ask questions and speak up about what you need from care.
THERAPY & MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
Explore the support
that fits your needs.
Therapy may be part of a treatment plan on its own or alongside psychiatric medication management. The appropriate approach depends on your needs and clinical evaluation.
Heart Own Medical Services offers both services. If medication is something you would like to discuss, let your provider know so you can explore the available options.
01.
Request
care
Submit an appointment request or contact our office. Let us know you are interested in psychiatric medication management.
02.
Complete your intake
Provide your patient information, identification and insurance details through our designated intake process. Our staff will verify your coverage and arrange for you to receive the required consent forms.
03.
Schedule your appointment
Once your information has been verified and the required consents are signed, our staff will contact you to schedule your initial visit.

INSURANCE & PAYMENT
Let’s clarify your coverage.
We accept a range of insurance plans and verify your coverage before scheduling. Therapy benefits may vary by plan, including copayments, deductibles and visit requirements.
